Important Dates

May 27 - Track and Field Day - gym uniform to be worn

June 3rd – Arts night

June 4th – School Spelling bee (Justin, Arya, Marcus)

Parents you are all invited on June 10th @ 2:00-330pm to come and watch the JK-Gr. 2 GRADUATION!!!!! Each student will walk across the stage and receive a certificate of completion for their grade. At this time three awards will also be handed out (per grade) for Language, Math, and UOI.

(THIS IS ALSO CASUAL DAY; STUDENTS CAN COME TO SCHOOL DRESSED IN THEIR "GRAD" OUTFITS!)
For students in Gr.3-8 their Graduation starts at 5pm, everyone is welcome to attend even if they do not have a child in this grade range.

Calendar - Today we learned our new days of the week song, said the date and dressed Charlie for the weather.

Independent Reading - As part of our daily 5 students will look at stories, do picture walks, and listen to others telling stories.
Story - Today we read the story Hippo Says Excuse Me. We learned we must say excuse me when someone is in our way, we cannot push past people or push them out of our way.

Journal - 
Today we continued to work on our sight word of the week ARE. We learned a poem about the word ARE. In our journals we then traced a line from the poem Daffodils are yellow. (Some of us wrote it ourselves) Once we were done we drew and coloured a yellow daffodil.

Language -   

Today we continued to work on the letter Ii, we practised the sound it makes, and writing it in our workbooks! We made a list of words we know that start with the letter Ii. We then practised with playdough: 



Math - 

Today we learned about the terms same and different. 


Music - today we learned songs about: counting to 100, the planets, months of the year, classroom rules, outside/inside voices, phonics

UOI -
Today we talked about attributes of a good friend on the inside. Meaning not describing their physical features but characteristics that make them good. Take a look (for a closer look it is posted on our bulletin board above the cubbies) a big thank you to Ms. C for drawing the girl for us!
 


UOI Centres-
House, dress up, playdough, puzzles, Mr. Potato head, blocks. Working on sharing, manners, fine motor skills, imaginative play, problem solving and working together


Important Updates:

  • Book orders sent home in Agendas due back Sept 15 
  • Trip permission and payment forms will go home Sept 15 
  • Karate, piano, zumba, dance etc. forms and payments due back ASAP 
  • Homework folders were sent home in agendas and are due back every Tuesday to be filled 
  • Terry Fox Forms were sent home in the agendas students have a goal to raise two dollars each!
    • please check your email in regards to Chaperones, we will be needing some for this coming Monday to help us get to the park for the Terry Fox run/walk we will be leaving the school at 12:10
