Day 54 (Friday)

Hello parents,

With the change in weather here is an update on St. Jude's procedures!

If the weather becomes -10 or colder including the wind chill students are kept inside due to the cold. If it is warmer then this they will be sent outside. Please send snow pants to school, these can be kept in their cubbies until Friday if you would like please write a note to let me know.
An extra pair of pants and socks kept in their backpack would help in case it is a snowy/wet day.

After Care invoices and lunch order forms are due Friday.
Book orders due by end of next week in order to have them in before Christmas break. 

Sent home in the agenda today was the parent teacher interview slip. Each interview will be ten minutes in length. Please fill out and send in ASAP in order to get your preferred time slot!

Calendar - Today we learned our  days of the week song, said the date and dressed Charlie for the weather. 

Independent Reading -As part of our daily 5 students will look at stories, do picture walks, partner read and listen to others telling stories.

Journal- 
Today we filled out the last page of our report card. Students copied the sentence My new friend is _______. Students were then required to fill in the blank by asking a friend how to spell their name.

Language 

Today we learned the letter Ss, we practised our song about it and the sound letter Ss makes, then we wrote the letter on our own. 

Math -Today we matched real life objects in the classroom to 3D shapes. 

Music - today we learned songs about: counting to 100, the planets, months of the year, classroom rules, outside/inside voices, phonics and sight words.

Today we read the story: 

we then talked about how they celebrate Christmas in Italy. We learned about La Befana the good witch.  An anticipation generated by the arrival of an old witch in early January.  On Epiphany Eve, the old, tattered and soot-covered Befana flies around the world on a broomstick and comes down chimneys to deliver candy and presents to children who have been good during the year. She places these treats in the children's shoes.
