Important Dates

May 27 - Track and Field Day - gym uniform to be worn

June 3rd – Arts night

June 4th – School Spelling bee (Justin, Arya, Marcus)

Parents you are all invited on June 10th @ 2:00-330pm to come and watch the JK-Gr. 2 GRADUATION!!!!! Each student will walk across the stage and receive a certificate of completion for their grade. At this time three awards will also be handed out (per grade) for Language, Math, and UOI.

(THIS IS ALSO CASUAL DAY; STUDENTS CAN COME TO SCHOOL DRESSED IN THEIR "GRAD" OUTFITS!)
For students in Gr.3-8 their Graduation starts at 5pm, everyone is welcome to attend even if they do not have a child in this grade range.

June 12th - Summer Fair, last day of school

Calendar - Today we learned our  days of the week song, said the date and dressed Charlie for the weather. 

Daily 5 -As part of our daily 5 students will look at stories, do picture walks, independent read, partner read, and listen to others telling stories, and practise writing words:

Today students participated in partner reading, students took turn completing picture walks and telling the story in their own words. 

Students also participated in independent reading. This helps students to build confidence in their reading through picture cues, learning parts of a book and proper book etiquette. 

Students also participated in listening to reading. Today we listened to the story: Franklin Takes the Blame. 

Journal- 
As part of our Daily 5 students will practice working on writing (through copying sentences in their journals) or word work (practicing sounding out words, cutting and pasting words into proper sequence to build words.) 
Today we reviewed letter sounds and how to sound out the beginning of words:

Language 
Today I worked with small group on sounding out words with ED, ET, and EN sounds while the other group work on phonics programs on the school tablets!!!



Math -
Today we shared our patterns we were wearing with the class:



Music - Songs on friendship, sight words, phonics, patterning, manners, brain breaks
UOI -   
We continued learning about Brazil for International Mindedness day on Friday

Students had to answer trivia questions in order to be able to pick their centre. 
Car mats, airport, blocks, puzzles, Mr. Potato head, art easel (chalk, whiteboard markers, painting) and cut and paste. Working on sharing, manners, fine and gross motor skills, imaginative play, problem solving and working together. 


Important Dates: 
  • Jan 23rd - Book orders due, After School Care payments due,  International Mindedness day please see email sent to certain parents (Thursday) or post below this one, regarding homework for this weekend
    • We have been selected to represent Brazil students will need to dress in Brazilian wear, or the country's colours for the day 
  • Jan 29th - casual day 
  • Feb. 11 - 100 Days of school - assignment coming soon
  • Feb 12 - Valentines day party, dress in red, pink, and white for spirit day
  • Feb. 13 and 16 - No school 
  • Feb. 17 - Pancake eating contest 
  • Feb 23- Lego Land Trip - details coming soon
  • Feb 25 - Casual Day 
  • Feb 26 - Oral Presentations (poems will be sent home soon)
