Important Dates

May 27 - Track and Field Day - gym uniform to be worn

June 3rd – Arts night

June 4th – School Spelling bee (Justin, Arya, Marcus)

Parents you are all invited on June 10th @ 2:00-330pm to come and watch the JK-Gr. 2 GRADUATION!!!!! Each student will walk across the stage and receive a certificate of completion for their grade. At this time three awards will also be handed out (per grade) for Language, Math, and UOI.

(THIS IS ALSO CASUAL DAY; STUDENTS CAN COME TO SCHOOL DRESSED IN THEIR "GRAD" OUTFITS!)
For students in Gr.3-8 their Graduation starts at 5pm, everyone is welcome to attend even if they do not have a child in this grade range.

Calendar - Today we learned our  days of the week song, said the date and dressed Charlie for the weather. 

Daily 5 -As part of our daily 5 students will look at stories, do picture walks, independent read, partner read, and listen to others telling stories, and practise writing words.

Today students participated in partner reading, students took turn completing picture walks and telling the story in their own words.

As part of our daily five students participated in listening to reading. Today we listened to the story:

Journal- 
As part of our Daily 5 students will practice working on writing (through copying sentences in their journals) or word work (practicing sounding out words, cutting and pasting words into proper sequence to build words.) Today we began our animals in the barn book which ties in with our new UOI:

Today we worked on vowel sounds in words, students had to sound out and decide the missing vowel:


Math - Today we worked on our numbers 11-20, with a crab that ties in with our under the sea theme:



music - Songs on friendship, sight words, phonics, patterning, manners, brain breaks

UOI - 
Today we reviewed what a mammal is
  • warm blooded
  • their babies are born live, not from an egg 
  • they have fur/hair 
We then learned what a reptile is:
  • They have scales
  • they have cold blood
  • their babies are hatched from eggs 
students then completed a sorting activity:


UOI Centres-
Students had to answer trivia questions in order to be able to pick their centre. 
animals,playdough, blocks, puzzles, house centre, art easel (chalk, whiteboard markers, painting) and cut and paste. Working on sharing, manners, fine and gross motor skills, imaginative play, problem solving and working together. 

April 13th/14 – SJA will be selling coffee in the morning – in support of our spring fundraiser (funds raised will go towards a new playground!)
April 13th/14 – Students will be able to purchase goodies from the spring fundraiser bake sale 
 (funds raised will go towards a new playground!)
April 16th  - pancake breakfast – order forms sent home, all proceeds raised will go towards a new playground!
April 17th - Ice cream sundae day - order forms sent home all proceeds will go towards a new playground, Saraya's McDonalds birthday lunch!!!!!!!!
